Released in 2010 and purchased by Facebook in 2012, Instagram is a photo and video sharing site that can stand on its own as well as interact with Facebook and Twitter.
Instagram also includes integrated photo editing options as well as dozens of photo filters so users aren’t just sharing moments – they’re creating works of art. Users can then like or comment on one another’s photos.
Instagram is a great way for rural businesses to gain the attention of under 35's as over 90% of it's users are under this age.
To get started all you need to do is create a free account, start uploading images, and start adding other users in your network, who will then hopefully add you back and start commenting and liking your posts. To gain quicker uptake you can link your posts to other social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter, where all your posts can be automatically posted on them as well.
In the Images below are some examples of rural businesses and organisations using Instagram.
